The door opens for the first time, the tester loop, and five tapes in one night

The owner’s evening brief was the whole front door: settings and key rebinding before the demo, NEW GAME asking single player or with friends and then how hard, the prologue on for testers, a test build that records itself, voice notes. All of it went in overnight, and the first thing the owner’s own log proved was that the front door had never opened for a real player – it hung off the classic tutorial’s flag, which the plot start switches off. Every launch since the village rework had dropped straight onto the farm. It opens now, on the capsule picture, and every page behind it is the ledger’s own paper: one sheet, one header, one key size, rows instead of cards, a controls list that scrolls rather than shrinks.

Rebinding is one table. Every key a player can move lives in it, the input builder reads it, and the ~260 prompts written as “[E]” or “[TAB]” are rewritten to the bound key at the HUD’s single text choke point – free while nothing is rebound. Voice notes are a held key: the microphone opens on the press, a 16 kHz clip lands beside a bug report of that exact moment on release. A tester build knows it is one: it asks for consent once, stamps its name on every report, asks for the tester code the download came with, and can keep a session-long voice track under a top-left badge that never lies about recording.

Then the owner played five times between ten and one in the morning, taping each run, and the machine answered each tape within the hour: the dead mouse after BEGIN, a note field that had quietly eaten the keyboard, the office skip going straight to the farm, the wave call refused until the letter is delivered, an Elder who walks himself out of any house he is stuck in, a village well authored as a candidate. The last tape was fifty-three minutes with a tester and reached day twelve. Its verdict sets the next week: the map opens too slowly once the economy runs, the waves of days eight to eleven hitch on work our own timers cannot see, and the light still wants a review.
