A runner is caught, a house grows out of the ground, and a wave bill that is a cliff
The owner’s sixth tape was a show-and-tell for his wife, and it left ten bugs. Most were the kind a log names outright. Two officers walk to the player to serve the letter; they walked at half his speed, and the morning’s clock holds until they have spoken, so a player who ran away held the whole day – “an exploit on time”, his words. They hurry now, and if the chase runs past forty seconds they serve the notice from where they stand. A first press of Escape was closing a build shelf the player could not see, under the ledger, so the ledger needed two presses; the order is fixed. The rule that keeps a farm off the granary had been given a half-size box by an engine call that returns half-extents, so a farm went green under the plank stack; the box is the real size now, and the log prints it once so nobody has to take that on trust again. An outfit change was quietly destroying the hero’s authored hoe and the game fell back to the old block one – “the old placeholder” he kept seeing was a garbage- collected pointer. And the village Elder, who is meant to sit by the granary, had his sitting spot three metres inside it.
The roof got its answer. He has asked three times to jump onto a roof, and the roof was solid – a hero dropped on it stood – but no jump could reach it: the jump is tuned to clear a fence and the eaves overhang the wall, so pressed to the wall your head meets the eave with your feet forty centimetres up. A taller jump brings back the “moon jumping” a tester hated. So the hero climbs: at the top of a jump, pushing at a wall, any ledge within reach that the body fits on is mantled. The roof gate now jumps from the ground and passes.
Then his brief from the morning before: every placed plan wears the real building and fills from the ground as it is built. A second surface material cuts the model above a height and glows a warm line just under the cut; the plan drives that height from its work. Staked, a house shows its first course; a third of the way it has walls to the windows; raised, the same house stands. And his new HUD layout – one strip across the top, one dock across the bottom – is in the game as a switch beside the old one, for him to sign off screen by screen.
The night’s number: the wave bill growing with the village level, his own call, measured on the same build with a second blind reader. Off, the ten-day demo held nine seeds in ten; at ten percent per level it held one; at twenty and thirty, none. The economy was identical in every arm – the automated village buys guns by the calendar, not the threat – so the extra suits on days seven to nine simply spent a tenth of margin the curve carries there. A cliff, not a slope; the default stays off, and the next arm is smaller steps.
